One arrested for illegal VoIP installation

Kolkata, Sep 16 (PTI) A person was today arrested by theCID for in connection with an illegal installation to routevoice over internet protocol (VoIP) calls to domestic telecomposing security threat and revenue loss to the government According to a senior official of West Bengal CID, RatanShaw was arrested during a joint raid conducted by CID and theDepartment of Telecommunications (DoT) from his Rishraresidence in Hooghly district today. "He had illegally installed to route international VoIPcalls to domestic telecom network bypassing internationalgateways posing security threat and also causing revenue lossto the government," the officer said. The call routing equipment and the SIM cards have beenseized, he said. Shaw has been booked under different sections of the IPCas well as the IT Act and Sections of the Indian TelegraphAct, the CID official added. PTI SCH KKRCB
