Cop shoots self with service revolver

Mumbai, Sep 17 (PTI) A police sub-inspector allegedlycommitted suicide by shooting himself with a service revolverat the office of Superintendent of Police in Jalana, policesaid today. Prabhakar Pathade (32) was on duty in the SP officecontrol room. At around 12.30 AM, he went out and shothimself, a personnel at Jalna Police Control room said. His colleagues ran outside after hearing sound of firingand saw Pathade lying in a pool of blood. They took him to thenearby civic hospital but he was declared dead beforeadmission. The reason behind suicide is yet to be ascertained,police said, adding, it is not known whether he was understress but all aspects are being looked into. A case of accidental death has been filed and the bodyhas been sent for post-mortem. PTI DC VT ARSAARSDM
