Ink thrown at Union minister Nadda in Bhopal’s AIIMS

Bhopal, Sep 17 (PTI) An unidentified person today threwink at Union Health Minister J P Nadda at All India Instituteof Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhopal, amid protest by studentsover "poor facilities" at the institute. Ink was thrown at the Minister at the entrance of theAIIMS when he was in his car leaving the institute, surroundedby protesting students amid and rains and chaos. Few drops of ink fell on the Minister’s kurta. An official of AIIMS Bhopal, on the condition ofanonymity, said it is so far not known who threw the ink. He said the police have started investigating the matter. Students had gathered to lodge protest over "poorfacilities" at AIIMS when Nadda was at the premier medicalcollege to dedicate a number of facilities. A third year MBBS student Rishi Prem claimed two of theprotesting students, Ijya Pandey and Anjali Krishna, sustainedinjuries as the Minister’s vehicle made a forced exit. "No student of AIIMS college threw ink at Nadda. Weprotested silently against lack of infrastructure at AIIMSwhere no surgery has taken place yet," Prem, a student whohails from Kerala, claimed. "We just wanted to talk to the Minister for improvingAIIMS. We don’t have even minimum facilities at the institute(required) for treating patients and learning. There is nopermanent director at AIIMS," Prem added. Director, AIIMS-Raipur, who is also acting in-charge ofthe Bhopal facility, Dr Nitin Nagarkar, was not available forcomments despite repeated calls.
