RJD MLA’s son arrested for stabbing a youth

Aurangabad/Patna, Sep 17 (PTI) An RJD MLA’s son has beenarrested for allegedly attacking a youth for not letting himovertake his motorcycle in Bihar’s Aurangabad district butpolice claimed the alleged incident is not a case of road rageand the two had old enmity. Kunal Pratap, the son of Birendra Sinha, Obra (Aurangabad)MLA of the ruling RJD, was arrested last midnight inconnection with the stabbing case, Aurangabad Superintendentof Police Satya Prakash said. The accused was today sent to jail, he said. The victim, Pintu Yadav, was admitted to Daudnagar primaryhealth centre from where the doctors referred him to PatnaMedical College and Hospital (PMCH), the SP said, adding thathe was out of danger. In his complaint, Yadav, who was riding a motorcycle, saidPratap stabbed him for not letting his car overtake him nearNeema petrol pump. The SP, however, said both Pratap and Yadav are residentsof village Bhagwan Bigaha and it seems that the incident isthe fallout of their old enmity. "It can not be said a road rage incident. They were verymuch knowing each other and had some old rivalry, probably,relating to elections," he said. Meanwhile, Sinha rubbished the charges against his sonsaying, "no such incident of stabbing happened and hence thereis no question of his son’s involvement in it." "Pintu has criminal antecedents. Let there be fairinvestigation and everything would be clear as my son isinnocent. Had my son been involved in the case I would nothave sent him to police station for making statement," Sinhatold PTI. Earlier this year, JD(U) MLC Manorama Devi was suspendedfrom the party after her son Rocky Yadav was allegedlyinvolved in an incident of roadrage wherein a Class XIIstudent was killed when he apparently overtook the car of theleader’s son.
