Haryana procures 48 lakh tonnes paddy

\ Chandigarh, Oct 27 (PTI) More than 47.88 lakh tonnes of\paddy has arrived in the Haryana grain markets until yesterday\whereas 38.03 lakh tonnes of paddy had arrived in the \\’mandis\\’\during the corresponding period last year.\ Out of total paddy arrivals, 46.29 lakh tonnes was\leviable. The government procurement agencies have procured\about 46.02 lakh tonnes of paddy and 1.85 lakh tonnes was\procured by millers and dealers, an official spokesman said\here today.\ Referring to arrival of paddy in the mandis of various\districts, he said that more than 10.52 lakh tonnes paddy has\arrived in Kurukshetra, more than 10.04 lakh tonnes in Karnal\and over 6.71 lakh tonnes in Ambala.\ The spokesman said that more than 19.93 lakh tonnes of\paddy has been purchased by the Food, Civil Supplies and\Consumer Affairs Department, 15.97 lakh tonnes by Hafed, over\5.35 lakh tonnes by the Haryana Agro-industries Corporation,\over 4.54 lakh tonnes by the Haryana Warehousing Corporation\and 22,257 tonnes by the Food Corporation of India.
