Heart of Asia Summit: We must demonstrate strong, collective will to defeat terrorism says PM Modi

Amritsar: On the second day of Heart of Asia Summit , Prime Minister Narendra Modi stressed out the need to clear out the terror network, quoting it is threatening the whole world.

Earlier, PM Modi and Afghan President Ashraf Ghani inaugurated the Heart of Asia Summit in Amritsar.

Afghan President Ashraf Ghani while addressing the conference said: ‘It is a pleasure to jointly inaugurate this Conference with our friend & partner.’

Here are the 10 key-points of PM Modi’s speech:

Commencing his speech with greeting the holy city, PM Modi said:

 “Amritsar nurtures an old and steadfast connection of warmth and affection with Afghanistan.”

Our gathering today re-affirms the commitment of the international community to durable peace & lasting stability in Afghanistan.”

–PM identifies some key issues in supporting Afghanistan, beginning with an Afghan-led, Afghan-owned and Afghan-controlled process

“We must demonstrate a strong collective will to defeat terror networks that cause bloodshed and spread fear.”

“Our bilateral and regional commitments of material assistance for Afghanistan’s development needs must continue and increase.”

“We must protect and build on the gains of the last fifteen years and march ahead.”
