Noida : Honda City driver kills Techie and drags him for 200 feet

A Honda City was involved in an unfortunate accident when the driver ran over a Final Year B.Tech. student of Amity University and dragged him for over 200 feet near Sector 18 in Noida on Friday night.

According to police, Vivek Kumar, 21, was returning home from a movie show in Sector 18, when the car hit him.

“The incident took place around 11.30pm. Vivek received severe head injury and succumbed on the spot,” investigating officer Dharmendra Singh said. Vivek and his friends were returning to their paying guest accommodation in Sector 126, he added.

 The cop told that the driver was reversing his vehicle and hit the student. In his attempt to escape from the spot he also rammed into aSUV and dragged the injured Vivek up to 200 feet before being intercepted and nabbed by locals. The driver was identified as 32-year-old Apoorv, a resident of Sector 66 in Noida who works as an engineer in HCL Technologies.

The police said, Kumar is from Mangalagiri in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh and was pursuing engineering from Amity University in Sector 125.

“We have arrested the driver and a case has been registered against him,” Singh said. The body of Kumar has been sent for post-mortem and his parents have been informed about the accident, he said.
