Navjot Sidhu to compensate farmers from his own pocket

Even before the government machinery could move to give compensation to the farmers who lost their standing wheat crop in a fire incident on Saturday, local body minister Navjot Singh Sidhu on Sunday announced to give Rs. 24 lakh as compensation to them from his own pocket.

Sidhu earlier in the day went to village Othian in Rajasansi assembly constituency to express sympathy with the farmers whose 300 acres of standing wheat crop was burnt to ashes from a spark from overhead running high tension electric wires.

Sidhu , during his tenure as Lok Sabha Member of Parliament, had also been generously doling out money for various philanthropist act as well as for giving green cover to the city from his personal resources.
