Fortunately, one psychologist has taken it upon herself to help out with how best we can live a healthy and happy life this year. Florence Servan-Schreiber is a positive psychology specialist and during an interview with AFP Relax News, she made few suggestions in this regard.
Here are seven ways, according to her, by which one can live a happy and healthy life this year.
Make love more often
Generally, sexually active individuals tend to be more optimistic and positive. The reason behind is quite simple since sex leads to the release of serotonin, a natural antidepressant. Provide free rein to your emotions and let all that nervous tension ease away.
Laugh more
Like exercise, laughter makes the body produce endorphins – the happiness hormones. Thus it strengthens our immune system. So laugh more often.
Spend more time with friends
Social interactions play a vital role in improving quality of life, health and happiness levels.
Show compassion
Several Neuroscientists and psychologists have stressed that altruism lowers levels of cortisol (the stress hormone). This enables reducing inflammation, slowing heart rate, reducing blood pressure and pain.
Meditate
Meditation helps you to focus the mind and body on the present moment which allows you to take control of the body’s autopilot and curb wandering thoughts. Practice regularly (10 minutes per day at first) and you can learn to appease mind and body. Meditation will help you to bring about a state of calm.
Take a nap
Napping for 30 minutes every day has various health benefits. It also making us more competent and creative.
Chew gum
When you are stressed and overworked, chewing gum can help relieve pressure in the brain. Moreover, it can boost blood flow to the brain by 25% to 40%, in turn increasing the amount of oxygen getting to the brain.
So these are the seven ways to live a happy life and healthy life.
