Maruti Suzuki to unveil Future S Concept at Delhi Auto Expo

Date:

The visitors at the Auto Expo 2018 in Delhi are in for some huge surprises and stunning designs. After the motor companies lured close to 6 lakhs visitors the last time it was held, they are bringing latest things to attract viewers.

Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch its Future S Concept in the Expo to be held from February 9 to 14.

An all-new concept car, christened the ‘Future S’, it is a fresh design language for a new compact car segment and ‘represents the next level of design evolution’. The concept will make its global debut.

The teaser sketches clearly reveal that the Future S, with its distinctive two-box silhouette, upright proportions and muscular haunches, is a compact SUV. More importantly, the Future S marks a breakaway from the conventional and ordinary shapes of Maruti’s bread-and-butter hatchbacks and is a pointed move by India’s largest carmaker into the lower end of the SUV segment. The increasing preference for SUVs as a body style across the spectrum of the market is driving this new design direction.

Explaining ‘ConceptFutureS’ CV Raman, Senior Executive Director (Engineering), Maruti Suzuki India Limited said, “The increasing preference for UVs and their bold architecture inspired our design team to study a new character for compact cars. ConceptFutureS could mark a distinctive shift in how compact cars are shaped and designed in India in the future.”

Production versions of the Future S will be built on Suzuki’s lightweight ‘Heartect’ platform, while engine options are likely to include the brilliant K-series 1.2-litre petrol with some form of electrification, and a future 1.5-litre diesel developed in-house.
