Kulbhushan Jadhav now faces trial in various cases linked to terrorism, sabotage

Date:

Kulbhushan Jadhav, who was sentenced to death by the military court in April last year, has multiple cases against him, including terror and sabotage related charges.

Pakistan’s daily, Dawn reported quoting an official that Jadhav has multiple cases against him in which he had been accused on terror and sabotage related charges. The officials said that the cases are progressing and the spying case against Jadhav has been concluded out of the multiple cases against him.

The daily also quoted a source claiming that Pakistan on a number of occasions had sought entrance to 13 Indian officials to discover information in the case. However, New Delhi has remained stubbornly uncooperative, the daily alleges.

The Pakistani source did not reveal the names of the 13 Indian officials which the government wants to interrogate. However, he said, “We want to reach Jadhav’s handlers”.

Moreover, Pakistan demands information on his Navy service file, bank record of his pension payment, and issuance of the passport in the name of Mubarak Hussain Patel, the daily said.

Pakistani officials intend to know how the passport in the name of Patel was issued and whether it was original or fake. The officials also want to know the particulars of Jadhav’s properties in Mumbai, Pune and other parts of Maharashtra, which he had taken in Patel’s name, the paper quoted the source as saying.

Currently, the ICJ is hearing an Indian petition challenging Pakistan’s rejection to confer consular access to the spy.

Pakistan alleges that its security forces detained Jadhav from its Balochistan province on March 3, 2016, after he reportedly entered from Iran. However, India denies all those charges.

India moved the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in May last year against the verdict. The ICJ halted his execution on India’s appeal pending the final verdict by it.
