Its time we begin to travel for the soul, rather than social media

Date:

For most of us now, the main motive of travel is to post pictures and spam social media. For how long have you relaxed without clicking any pictures or just focused on living the moment, right here right now rather than capturing it for later.

Since when did we forget that it is more essential to feed our souls rather than feeding our Instagram.

Travelling brings you so many things that life would be incomplete without. There is, of course, the novelty about seeing new cultures and scenery, but it is more about what that does to us.

It is when we discover other people, their lands, and their stories that we discover so much more about ourselves. Meeting people of new cultures, understanding their point of view and how their world it, gives us so much insight into how they think and how we imagine our issues to hold such importance while we should just focus on enjoying the simplistic pleasures in life.

Our worldview, the way we assess and approach life and things in it becomes so much wider, warmer, and mindful. So more than anything, it grows us, travelling. That is why people say that even though there is no ‘right’ age to travel, it is best undertaken when you are young because of how it shapes us and helps us be who we are.

So much of what we do is done for social approval these days. And we all do it, sometimes without even realizing it we become party to the whole idea. But for us, travelling should be holy… no matter where we go.

We reach a resort and the first thing we do is ask for their WiFi spot or just land and connect with our own network connection and that is just to get a touch of Social Media back to our souls and rejoice.

So when we are madly posting pictures to garner shares and likes, when we want to travel but complain about there being no WiFi, and when we would rather take pictures of where we are instead of living it, maybe we should ask ourselves: who are we really traveling for? That is up for introspection when you are sitting across a snow-clad mountain, overlooking a valley and busy taking pictures and uploading it online the very minute. You think about whether you are travelling for leisure or for the likes?

Why not just travel and tell no one?

Travel for yourself and your soul and that will make up for a trip to remember!
