India’s RV Rahul wins gold in men’s 85kg weightlifting

Ragala Venkat Rahul won India’s fourth gold medal at the ongoing 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast on Saturday when he clinched the men’s 85kg title.

Rahul successfully lifted a maximum of 151kg in snatch, before lifting 187kg in clean and jerk. Samoa’s Don Opeloge was the closest competitor during the event, as he picked 151kg in snatch and 180kg in clean and jerk.

Rahul failed his final attempt of 191kg. But Samoa’s Don Opeloge missed his final attempt as well.

Malaysia’a Muhamad Fazrul Azrie won the bronze medal.
