24 airlifted in Raj as rains create flood-like scene

Jaipur, Aug 20 (PTI) At least 24 people were airliftedtoday in Rajasthan’s Baran district and nearby areas whereheavy rains have created a flood-like situation. Several villages are inundated with water enteringbuildings, houses and a private power plant in Baran. "Many villagers had climbed trees amid gushing waters andwere waiting for help. A MI-17 V5 helicopter from Air ForceStation in Phalodi carried out a rescue operation and rescued24 people from seven different locations," Defencespokesperson Lt Col Manish Ojha said. The rescue effort will continue, he said. Baran and nearby areas have been witnessing heavy rainssince yesterday. PTI SDA AQS ZMNAQS
