World’s largest iceberg disappears after 18 years

Date:

The world’s largest iceberg has finally vanished after eighteen years from Antarctica towards the equator.

According to NASA, iceberg B-15 Antarctica’s Ross Ice Shelf is possible ending its journey and moving toward the warmer waters.

In March 2000, this iceberg measured around 296 kilometres in height and 37 kilometres in width. Within the last year, the iceberg was caught in northerly currents which changed its direction.

It has since then broken down into minute chunks and one of the pieces that broke off last year was the size about the size of Bali. Currently, only four chunks of the iceberg exist and in case these chunks are further broken down, it would be impossible to spot them back.
