In a major breakthrough, Pinar Toprak has been signed to score “Captain Marvel”.
The composer will be the first woman to score a Marvel Studios film.
The film, which stars Brie Larson as the powerful Captain Marvel, is Marvel Studios’ first female-fronted film and comes at a critical time in terms of the overall storyline in the series, as one of the two films in between the climactic Avengers: Infinity War and the final Avengers film.
In a post on Instagram, Toprak said, “It’s an incredible honour to be a part of the Marvel Universe. I have so many people to thank for helping me on this journey but first and foremost, my incredible agents Laura Engel and Richard Kraft for believing in me from day one.”

She also thanked directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck “for giving me this opportunity of a lifetime” and Marvel music supervisor Dave Jordan.
Toprak has previously worked on Syfy’s Superman prequel “Krypton” as well as the video game “Fortnite”.
“Captain Marvel” is set to open March 8, 2019. Before that, this year, Ant-Man and the Wasp will release on July 6, 2018. Meanwhile, Avengers: Infinity War appears set to beat Titanic on the list of highest-grossing films of all time after crossing $2 billion in worldwide collections.
