A Mumbai bound Air India Express flight IX 213 from Vijayawada which landed at 2.51 pm overshot due to heavy rains in the city. The aircraft is now being inspected by the engineers at the Mumbai Airport.

There were 89 people on board including crew when it overshot 10 feet beyond the runway end, confirmed an Air India Express official.

“Air India Express flight IX 213 from Vijayawada to Mumbai while landing on alternate runway 14 due to the closure of main runway 27, stopped 10 feet beyond the runway end on the paved stop way. The aircraft had touched down correctly and used maximum braking but due to the slippery conditions caused by heavy rains, the aircraft could stop only at the stop way. No damage to the aircraft or airport property or injuries to any person was reported and the aircraft taxied on its own power to the parking bay,” said Air India Express spokesperson.
