Mira Road salutes its martyr Maj Rane in a unique way

While fighting terrorists on the Jammu & Kashmir border in the Gurez Sector, four soldiers were martyred on August 7. Major Kaustubh Prakash Rane, hailing from Mira Road in Mumbai, was among the four soldiers. He was a single child and has left behind a jolt in the lives of his family that include his wife Kanika, parents Prakash and Jyoti Rane, and a 2-year-old son Agastya.

The entire locality is mourning the loss of Major Kaustubh and while his mortal remains were passing through Mira Road, the locals sprinkled flowers over his remains as a tribute to him.

Everyone had kind words to say about him in every aspect, be it, nature, manners, intelligence. His uncle also said that since the time he got posted in the Gurez Sector, they were unable to contact him often. The only information they could gather from him occasionally was of his well-being.

Major’s routes originated from Konkan, however, he was staying at Mira Road for the last thirty years. He completed his schooling from the Holy School at Mira Road followed by higher school education from Royal College and graduation from Shailendra College.

Major Kaustubh further went on for his military training in Pune and was commissioned as a defence officer from the Chennai Officer’s Training Academy. He was posted to Kupwara followed by Kolkata and last being Gurez in 2017. In 2011 he had been promoted as the captain of the army.
