Delhi: Supreme Court has approved the Central government’s proposal to have hologram-based coloured stickers to show the nature of the fuel. The scheme which is used is based on a scheme used in Paris using stickers that distinguish between Petrol and Diesel.

The bench also comprising justices S Abdul Nazeer and Deepak Gupta asked the ministry to implement the use of coloured stickers on vehicles plying in Delhi-National Capital Region (NCR) by September 30.

The Central Government accepted the scheme and said that it will be more effective than the Odd-Even scheme. The Supreme Court also asked Additional Solicitor General ANS Nadkarni, who was representing the ministry to introduce green number plates for electric vehicles.Mr Nadkarni told the court that the ministry would look into it and take a decision soon.
