An enquiry has been made to initiate a disciplinary action against Major Leetul Gogoi in the Srinagar hotel brawl case. Major Gogoi has been found guilty of “fraternising with local and being absent from duty in operational area”.

On May 23, Major Gogoi was detained was detained by the police following a noisy argument with a woman at a Srinagar hotel where he was allegedly trying to enter with a minor girl. Army Chief Bipin Rawat looked into the matter and said if Major Gogoi was found guilty in the case then he would be given a punishment.
“If any officer of the Indian Army is found guilty of any of offence, we will take strictest possible action,” General Rawat said.

Major Gogoi made headlines last year when he tied a man to his jeep in Kashmir to protect him and his men from the stone pelters in the Srinagar Lok Sabha byelection on April 9.
