Audi gives the R8 some sparkling new touches for a 2019 release

Date:

Audi’s high- performance sports car, the R8, is all set for a revamp! The car’s looks as well as technology will be undergoing change in the coming year.

Audi Sport, on Tuesday, released a teaser image of the new look on its Facebook page, which gave hints of tweaked grilles, air intakes and daytime running lights.

According to Audi, the sportier look is inspired from the R8 GT3 and GT4 classed race cars. Similar to the current R8 and R8 V10+ models, two different power ratings will be available from different tunes of the same V10 engine.

The current base R8 produces 532 hp while the V10+ variant produces 602 hp. The numbers are expected to be pumped up in order to keep up with the teaser that has spiked up the expectations of automobile fans.

The suspension and all-wheel drive systems have been updated with additional sensors and parameters to account for dry, wet and snow modes.

The car has shed a lot of weight as Audi has removed some chunks from wherever they could. The front sway bar is now crafted from carbon and aluminum, cutting the weight by almost 2 kgs from that one piece.

There are a selection of two new wheel designs, a standard 19 inch and a lightweight 20 inch option with a “five-V” design.

The new design is not very different from the current model, yet, the minimal changes have resulted in a much more aggressive looking R8.

The new updates will be available in Europe as a coupe or a Spyder in early 2019. Bookings are open for the car now.
