Telangana gears up for differently-abled friendly election

In an attempt to get maximum voters to participate in the Telangana elections, voters with disabilities are being offered special facilities and services such as Braille electoral photo identity cards as well as free transportation.

The Disabled Welfare Department is arranging ramps, in addition to the above-mentioned facilities at all the polling stations for the differently-abled participants. Volunteers are also being given training for this.

Om Prakash Rawat, the Chief Election Commissioner of Telangana has planned to arrange a wheelchair with one assistant to escort the voters to their respective booths.

In Telangana, there are approximately five lakh physically challenged voters that will be casting their votes on December 7.
