BMW unveils the new 7 Series with some ‘big’ changes

Date:

BMW has finally pulled the covers off the all new 7 Series facelift and with some ‘big’ changes! (literally).

The new BMW 7 Series has received some major updates, the most apparent of all the design changes is the massive kidney grille which is 40% larger than the one on the current model.

The bumper features a narrow ‘V’ above the air dam to incorporate the grille making just about the area to fit in the number plate. The overall design retains the conventional lines and retains the basic features from the current models.

The sleek headlights still blend well with the long bonnet which now looks more accentuated and sculpted especially along the fenders. The rear has been tweaked as well, with the taillights 1.4 inches slimmer, are now one complete strip running across the boot lid.

The interiors of the car haven’t seen much change but the cabin has been given technological updates. The new flagship sedan gets the latest digital instrument cluster which feature in the new models like the 8 Series and X7. BMW gives new leather trims and claims of a better cabin insulation. More features like the wireless charging, in-built perfume, lane monitoring are standard across the range.

The new BMW 7 Series will be powered by a range of engine options including a new 6.0-liter, V12 engine, tuned to churn out 592 bhp and 850 Nm of peak torque, which will be the heart of the top-end M760 variant. The 4.4-liter, V8 engine, will produce 516 bhp and 750 Nm of peak torque enabling the car to sprint from a 0 to 100 kmph in 3.9 seconds.

The 740L, which is the most in-demand car out of the range, will now be a plug-in hybrid variant. It will get the same 3.0-liter, in-line six-cylinder engine, which will produce 276 bhp and 450 Nm of peak torque, but will be coupled with an electric motor which will add 111 hp more, taking the combined power output to 384 bhp. The 740L variant will accelerate to 100 kmph in 4.9 seconds.
