WATCH: Three men celebrate after vandalizing Hampi world heritage site

A video clip showing three youth vandalising some pillars at Hampi, a world heritage site is going viral.

The police started investigating the matter after the video went viral on social media. Superintendent of Police, Bellary, Arun Rangarajan said the accused will be arrested and prosecuted soon.


The 45 seconds video shows three miscreants pushing and overturning pillars that are a part of the ancient structure. The three can be seen celebrating afterwards. By the look of it, it seems to be somebody’s Instagram story. The caption in the story read- ‘ Ruining the ruins’

The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has filed a complaint with the local police, even though the actual time of the incident is not known.

The site in Hampi has been declared a World Heritage by the Unesco. It was also featured in The New York Times ‘52 Places To Go In 2019’.
