Gaga on a winning spree; only artist to bag 3 major awards in the same year

Date:

Lady Gaga on Sunday won her first Oscar for Best Original Song during Academy Awards for ‘Shallow.’

Overcome with emotion, Gaga tearfully hugged Bradley Cooper and the rest of her co-writers, Mark Ronson, Andrew Wyatt and Anthony Rossomando, when her name was announced.

‘Shallow’ – which also won a Grammy and a Golden Globe – was up against fellow nominees ‘All the Stars’ from Black Panther, ‘I’ll Fight’ from RBG, ‘The Place Where Lost Things Go’ from Mary Poppins Returns and ‘When a Cowboy Trades His Spurs for Wings’ from The Ballad of Buster Scruggs.

‘Bradley, there’s not a single person on the planet that could have sung this song with me but you,’ said Gaga while receiving the award. ‘Thank you for believing in us. … And if you are at home and you’re sitting on your couch, and you are watching this right now, all I have to say is that this is hard work. I’ve worked hard for a long time, and it’s not about winning. But what it’s about is not giving up. If you have a dream, fight for it. There’s a discipline for passion, and it’s not about how many times you get rejected or you fall down, or you’re beaten. It’s about how many times you stand up, and are brave, and you keep going.’

Her collaborator, Mark Ronson, added, ‘She acts, she writes, she sings the songs. Lady Gaga, we salute you for this.’

Gaga is also nominated for Best Actress, her costar and director Cooper is nominated for Best Actor, and the film is also up for Best Picture.

Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga’s performance of ‘Shallow’ at the Oscars was undeniably the most-anticipated performance of the evening.

The 91st Academy Awards were presented live from the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday.
