All about International Women’s Day
International Women’s Day was initially celebrated on March 19, the first time in the year 1911. A million women and men rallied in support of women’s rights on that first International Women’s Day. The idea came about looking at America’s National Women’s Day, declared by the Socialist Party of America.
The focus is on gender equality and on women-centric developments along with women empowerment. The day has come to be increasingly associated with feminism and equal rights for all. Every year, a theme is picked to celebrate this day. This year, it is “Think equal, build smart, innovate for change”.
