RaGa aka Raul Vinci failed in Economics, tweets Subramanian Swamy

Date:

BJP MP Subramanian Swamy on Friday tweeted a Cambridge certificate to take a dig at Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Friday.

As per his then election affidavit, Rahul Gandhi studied Developmental Economics in University of Cambridge’s Trinity College in 1995, but the certificate issued by the Department of Development Studies paints a different picture.

Subramanian Swamy had earlier claimed that Rahul Gandhi had four passports, one of them in the name of Raul Vinci. He had also claimed that ‘Raul Vinci’ didn’t get an MPhil Degree as he failed ‘the Economics paper’.

On Friday, Swamy posted a tweet claiming it was Rahul Gandhi’s Cambridge certificate. He wrote: “Buddhu’s Cambridge Certificate says his name is Raul Vinci and he read MPhil and failed in National Economic Planning & Policy.”

As per the certificate, Rahul Gandhi enrolled in a course for Developmental Studies and not Developmental Economics as claimed in the affidavit. Developmental Economics was actually one of the subjects in the course.

Also unlike Rahul Gandhi’s claim, he undertook the course in 2004-05 as opposed to 1994-95. He was enrolled in the college under the pseudonym of “Raul Vinci” which is reportedly a common practice in The UK for VVIP students.

His stint at the course was not too successful as he failed in National Economic Planning and Policy by obtaining 58 per cent marks, the passing grade is 60 per cent. Overall he barely managed to make the cut by obtaining 62.8 per cent marks.

Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs, Arun Jaitley also tweeted saying, ” Afterall, he (Rahul Gandhi) got an M.Phil without a Masters degree.
