Carrying cash is a good option for emergencies but be very careful of mugging. Keep cash in different places as well for safety.

Debit card 

If your debit card can be used internationally, you can try using the debit card.  A debit card would not provide you with the facility of buy now and pay later like a credit card but will use funds available in your bank account.
