Singapore based Banker falls in a Mumbai manhole, lands in a legal soup

Date:

After falling into an open manhole at Phoenix Mills in Mumbai, Singapore based fund manager Samir Arora now finds himself in a worrisome soup. Twitterati erupted in anger after his friend tweeted about Samir Arora’s near-death experience when visiting Mumbai. Now the DNA reports that the BMC is considering suing him and others for defamation saying the open manhole was not under their jurisdiction. The Phoenix group clarified that the manhole comes under premises of the Laxmi Woollen Mills Estate and BMC sent a notice to DM Shah, the director of the society.

All this apparently because Arora had tweeted about this.

Many people on twitter were quick to blame BMC-Brimhan Mumbai Corporation, the richest municipal corporation in the world for being lax.

BMC has been criticised for potholes in Mumbai roads and many other instances of failing public infrastructure in Mumbai. But this time the municipal corporation has decided to fight back as is it thinks the criticism here in undue.

Not many have missed the satire in Samir Arora’s olive branch to the BMC
