Kanhaiya Kumar does not hold assets worth Rs 18 crore as claimed on social media

A post is making rounds on social media according to which, BJP candidate from Bhopal Pragya Thakur has assets worth Rs 4.5 lakh while JNU student Khaniya Kumar who contested 2019 Lok Sabha polls from Begusarai has assets worth Rs 18 crore.

“साध्वी प्रज्ञा ठाकुर की कुल सम्पत्ति 4 लाख 50 हजार है. और बेरोजगार कन्हैया कुमार के पास 18 करोड़। ये 18 करोड़ आया कहाँ से?

(Translation: Sadhvi Pragya Thakur’s total assets are worth Rs 4.5 lakh and unemployed Kanhaiya Kumar has assets worth Rs 18 crore. Where did this 18 crore come from?)

At the time of filing this report, the above post was shared by over 3,000 Facebook users.

Several others posted the same claim on their Facebook wall.

FACT CHECK

When NewsMobile fact-checked the above claim we found it to be false.

We analysed the affidavits submitted by both Pragya Thakur and Kanhaiya Kumar. We found that Kanhaiya Kumar doesn’t hold assets worth Rs 18 crore but has assets worth Rs 5.57 lakh.

While we analysed Pragya Thakur’s affidavit, we found she holds assets worth Rs 4.40 lakh as claimed in the post.

Hence, this proves that the claim in the above posts about Kanhaiya Kumar’s assets in FAKE.
