‘India’s democracy has won’: PM Modi after NDA gets historic win

Hours after the BJP-led NDA got a historic win, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed his party workers at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi, saying India’s democracy has won.

In his 45-min victory speech, PM Modi said, “If someone has won, it’s India. India’s democracy has won, its public has won. Therefore, all people from the BJP and NDA with humility dedicate this victory to public. I congratulate all the winners, no matter from which party or which region they contested.”

After securing the mandate for a second consecutive term, he said the victory has cast a big responsibility on him.

“But I promise you that the work you have given me in the coming days I will not do anything with bad intentions. There can be mistakes while doing work, but there will be no work that will come out of bad intentions,” Prime Minister Modi said.

BJP is moving towards an easy majority with leads and wins on over 300 seats out of 542 parliamentary constituencies.

With a swarming sea of supporters, BJP headquarters at Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Marg in the national capital is witnessing colourful celebrations since afternoon, right after initial trends signaled the party’s victory.
