Don’t believe the FAKE news of Sanath Jayasuriya being killed in a car accident

A news report is widely being shared on social media according to which former Sri Lankan cricketer Sanath Jayasuriya passed away in a road accident in Canada.

Many prominent cricketers and actors tweeted about including R Ashwin and Arshad Warsi.

When NewsMobile fact-checked the above claim we found that the above article is FAKE.

When we scanned through Jayasuriya’s verified Twitter handle we found a Tweet by the Sri Lankan cricketer dated May 21st, 2019 rubbishing the FAKE claim.

“Please disregard fake news by malicious websites regarding my health and well being. I am in Srilanka and have not visited Canada recently. Please avoid sharing fake news,” He tweeted.

Hence, this proves that the above article is FAKE and Jayasuriya is fit and fine.
