A picture has been making rounds on the internet in which a mother-son duo are photographed.
It is being claimed that the child in the picture is Narendra Modi and the woman is his mother Hiraben Modi.
The caption of the picture read- “यही है वो बच्चा, जिससने 132 करोड लोगोंको हिलाकर रखदिया
नरेंन्द्र मोदी अपनी माँ हिराबेन के साथ”
(Translation- This is the kid that shook 132 crore people, Narendra Modi with his mother Hiraben Modi)
The above post is shared by more than 4,300 users on Facebook.
FACT CHECK
When the fact check team at NewsMobile checked the authenticity of the post, we found that the claim is FAKE.
We put the picture through Reverse Image Search and found that a website mentioned that the image is of former President of India Dr APJ Abdul Kalam sitting with his mother Ashiamma Jainulabiddin.
However, on checking further, we found that the image is neither of APJ Abdul Kalam nor Narendra Modi.
We found the image was shared by Facebook user Maryala Srinivas. In his Facebook post dated May 3, 2020, he clarified that the picture is of his family.
“The cute boy sitting beside my mother holding a cup and smiling is not Abdul Kalam, not Narendra Modi, but my brother Sridhar Maryala,” he wrote in his post.
While scanning through his profile, we found that he had shared the same image back in 2011 with the caption, “Our Family – father, sister, me, brother and mother.”
Hence, the information proves that the claim attached to the picture is FAKE.

Editor’s note: This article was first published on March 27, 2019, and was corrected and updated with new information on January 8, 2022. Earlier, the article mentioned that the image is of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam. However, we later found that the image was taken from the Facebook account of a user named Maryala Srinivas and it’s a picture of his family.
