Centre issues order for serial titles and end credits to be written in regional languages

Date:

Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar have issued an order for TV channels to display their TV serials’ titles in the regional languages that they are broadcast in.

The Centre has this mandate to promote Indian languages and channels can add English titles as well. He said that soon this would be extended to theatres as well.

Recently, the Centre had gained major backlash for it’s draft National Education Policy 2019 (NEP 2019). It stated that non-Hindi speaking States in India would include the regional language along with English and Hindi, while the parts where Hindi is spoken would have English and one of the modern Indian language in addition to Hindi.

A revised policy was then issued with no mention of Hindi as a compulsory language and students were given liberty to choose the language they wanted.
