The Karnataka floor test proceedings resumed on Friday but following the rucks in the Vidhan Soudha, the Governor has directed Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy undergo the floor test by 6 pm.
However, the floor test did not take place, and later, the Speaker K R Ramesh Kumar adjourned assembly till 11 am on July 22.
Meanwhile, reiterating their demand to hold a floor test by end of the day, leader of opposition in Karnataka Assembly BS Yeddyurappa said: “We respect you, Speaker sir. Governor’s last letter said the vote should finish today. People on our side will sit peacefully till late in the night. Let it take however long it takes and it’ll also mean that we can respect Governor’s direction.”

Whereas, Karnataka Speaker KR Ramesh: “Want to inform SC, people & the House. No MLA has given me letter seeking protection and I don’t know if they’ve written to govt. If they have informed any member that they have stayed away from House for security reasons then they’re misleading people.”

On the other hand, Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy moved the Supreme Court, saying that Governor Vajubhai Vala cannot dictate to the Assembly the manner in which the debate on the confidence motion has to be taken up.
Kumaraswamy also said: “I have respect for the Governor. But the second love letter from the Governor has hurt me. He only came to know about horse-trading 10 days ago? (Shows photos of BS Yeddyurappa’s PA Santosh, reportedly boarding a plane with independent MLA H Nagesh).”

On Thursday, the Governor stepped in after Speaker K R Ramesh Kumar remained undecided on the resignations of the rebel MLAs.
The proceedings on trust vote began on Thursday in Karnataka legislative assembly were adjourned later in the evening.
The BJP MLAs sat on an overnight ‘dharna’ in the state assembly demanding that the Speaker replies to the Governor’s letter and hold a floor test.
As the vote of confidence in the Assembly got delayed on Thursday, BJP approached state Governor and requested him to direct the Speaker to continue the debate on the vote of confidence.
