Fact check: This picture of the bleeding woman is not from Kashmir

A picture of a girl bleeding is being shared on the social media claiming that it is from Kashmir.

FACT CHECK 

When we fact-checked the picture, we found the claim to be fake.

On putting the image through Google, Reverse Image Search, we found an article by Jafariya News dated February 20, 2005.

According to the article, the picture is from Lebanon as the Shia Muslims observe Ashura, the 10th day of Muharram.


We also found a blogpost that features the image title, ‘Pictures of Matam’.

The above information proves that the picture is not from Kashmir.
