External Affairs Minister Dr S. Jaishankar paid rich tributes to former External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on the eve of her birth anniversary which is on February 14 and renamed two public institutions in her honour.

Lauding her contribution to public service and more particularly Indian diplomacy, Jaishankar tweeted saying:
“we all fondly remember Smt Sushma Swaraj, who would have turned 68 tomorrow. The MEA family misses her in particular.”

Two important institutions: Pravasi Bhartiya kendra and the Foreign Service Institute have been renamed as Sushma Swaraj Bhawan and the Sushma Swaraj Institute of Foreign Service respectively.
Sushma Swaraj, served as the Minister of External Affairs from 2014-2019 and her demise in 2019 left a void in the Ministry and the nation itself.
She was known for her humane attitude towards dealing with the people who needed the assistance from the Ministry of External Affairs and personally attended to many problems highlighted by people on Twitter.
She had earlier served as the Chief Minister of Delhi and as the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha. She was a senior leader of the BJP.
