At least 72 families across South Delhi have been put under quarantine days after a pizza delivery man, who delivered orders to them, tested positive for COVID-19.
The man, who has now been admitted to RML hospital, delivered pizzas till April 12. District Magistrate (South Delhi) B M Mishra said that none of the 72 people has been tested so far. “All of them are under home quarantine, and will be tested if they develop symptoms,” Mishra said.
Officials said he had visited a hospital for dialysis earlier and is suspected to have contracted the infection there.

In a statement, food delivery giant Zomato said it had been made aware today that a restaurant employee who had tested positive for the virus, “had delivered food in the past to a few customers” in Malviya Nagar.
“All these customers have already been contacted by government authorities,” Zomato said, adding that the restaurant where the rider worked had been shut down.

Besides, officials are trying to ascertain if the man came in contact with anyone apart from the 72 traced families so far. Delhi has 1,578 COVID-19 cases, including over 30 deaths.
Home delivery of food and groceries is permitted during the lockdown, including all essential items.
