Actor Ajaz Khan arrested by Mumbai Police for his alleged communal remarks

Actor Ajaz Khan has been arrested by the Mumbai Police on Saturday on charges of defamation, hate speech and violation of prohibitory orders.

A case has been registered against him at Khar Police Station on the aforementioned charges. This comes after the 40-year-old actor reportedly made some controversial remarks in a Facebook Live interaction recently.

He allegedly made a communal statement, “If an ant dies, a Muslim is responsible, if an elephant dies, a Muslim is responsible. If there is an earthquake in Delhi, a Muslim is responsible, that is, a Muslim is responsible for any incident. But have you ever thought who is responsible for this conspiracy?”

The Khar Police has invoked Sections 153A, 117 and 121 of the Indian Penal Code against the actor.
