COVID-19: Top 10 developments in India this Friday morning

The total number of coronavirus cases in India has risen to 35,043 on Friday, with 1,147 deaths, 8,889 recoveries so far, according to the latest data released by the Health Ministry.

  • 25,007 active cases
  • 8,888 cured/discharged cases
  • 1,147 deaths

73 deaths and 1,993 new cases reported in the last 24 hours in the country.

2. Cross-border movement between Gurugram and Delhi to be stopped from 10 am today

3. A 53-year-old male patient, the first to undergo plasma therapy in Maharashtra passed away on 29th April: Dr Ravishankar, CEO Lilavati Hospital, Mumbai.

4. A day after the MHA notification allowed movement of people stranded outside their states, several state governments have stepped into action to bring them back.

5. Some states like Uttar Pradesh had already started bringing back migrants and stranded students from different parts of the country. Over the last week, the state has brought back close to 12,000 of its workers from Haryana and 11,500 students from Kota.

6. The Karnataka government plans to institutionally quarantine all people from the state who are currently stranded overseas and are expected to return in the next few days.

7. The number of coronavirus cases in Maharashtra crossed 10,000 mark. The state saw 27 COVID-related deaths and 583 new cases reported on Thursday, informed State Health Department.

8. Gujarat and Delhi are the two of the other states that have been severely hit with more than 4,000 and 3,000 cases respectively.

9. The Delhi government on Thursday ordered screening of all people living in COVID-19 containment zones at least thrice within 14 days of identifying such areas.

10. The All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) and the Delhi Police jointly launched an initiative, AYURAKSHA – “Corona Se Jung- Delhi Police Ke Sang”, aimed at maintaining the health of police personnel through ayurveda immunity boosting measures, officials said.
