Coronavirus recoveries overtake active cases in India for first time

With 1,35,206 patients recovered so far, the number of recoveries in India overtook the active COVID-19 cases (1,33,632) for the first time.

The death toll in the country now stands at 7,745 as 279 people have lost their lives in the last 24 hours.

India’s coronavirus tally soared to 2,76,583 Wednesday morning with 9,985 new patients reported in the last 24 hours. This is the eighth consecutive day that India registered over 9,000 cases in a single day.

The country, which has tested nearly 50 lakh people so far, ranks fifth in the world in terms of COVID-19 cases, after the United States, Brazil, Russia and the United Kingdom.
