Indian, Chinese Forces Start Disengagement Process In Ladakh

Date:

Ending months-long standoff, Indian and Chinese military tanks were seen moving back as the two sides reached an agreement on disengagement on both the north and south bank of the Pangong Lake.

However, it is unclear when the disengagement process will extend to other areas in Eastern Ladakh where Chinese forces have crossed the Line of Actual Control.

Meanwhile, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said on Thursday said in Lok Sabha that India and China have agreed to pull back troops from the south bank of the bitterly contested lake area high in the western Himalayas.

He also said, “I want to assure this House that in these talks we have not conceded anything. The House should also know that there are still some outstanding issues with regard to deployment and patrolling at some other points along the LAC in Eastern Ladakh.”
