Fact Check: Amit Shah, Yogi Adityanath’s Photo From 2018 Resurfaces Again This Election Season

Date:

With assembly elections of different states having begun already, a set of pictures of Home Minister Amit Shah along with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath are doing rounds of social media.

“भीड़ बुलाने के लिए खाने के पैकेट रखने पड़े“, reads the caption of the Facebook post.

Translation: Had to keep food packets to call the crowd

The post can be seen here and here.

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the post and found the claim to be false.

We fact-checked both the pictures and found the following:

IMAGE 1

We put the picture through Reverse Image Search and found the same image on the official Twitter handle of BJP Live and the caption stated the image was clicked in 2018 in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.

Later, with relevant keywords –‘Amit Shah, Varanasi’ we ran a Google search that led us to The video of the rally on the official channel of the Bharatiya Janta Party, dated 2018.

This proves that the image of Home Minister Amit Shah with UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is not from any of the recent poll rallies.

Further, we reverse image searched the second photo shared in the post. We found the photo of the empty chairs in an article published on the ‘Hindustan news‘ website on January 20, 2018.

This proves that none of the above pictures were taken recently.

With all the information mentioned above, it is clear that old pictures of the BJP rally have resurfaced on social media.
