Rahul, Gayle Guide Punjab To A Nine-Wicket Win Against Mumbai Indians

Punjab Kings batting ensured an easy nine-wicket win against Mumbai Indians in the ongoing Indian Premier League at the M.A.Chidambaram Stadium on Friday. 

Skipper Rohit Sharma’s 63 run knock couldn’t help Mumbai Indians long way as they ended up at 131/6 in 20 overs in front of a spirited display of bowling by Punjab Kings. Punjab Kings innings was laid by an outstanding half century by skipper KL Rahul along with Chris Gayle unbeaten at 43-runs. 

Mumbai Indians bowling attack could just manage one-wicket of Mayank Agarwal and brought an end to the 53 runs partnership. After that Gayle joined Rahul and both took the team to a comfortable win in the 17th over. 

In the first innings Mumbai Indians lost opener Quinton de Kock (3) as Deepak Hooda picked him in the second over. Ishan Kishan innings with Rohit was short stitched as he went back to pavilion by scoring six runs.

Rohit Sharma was sent back by Shami as he was trying to hit big. Hardik Pandya too failed to leave a mark on the scoreboard as he went back after scoring one run dismissed by youngster Arshdeep Singh. In the last 5 overs Punjab just gave 34 runs and managed to take 4 crucial wickets one after the others, smashing the side.
