PM Modi Takes Stock Of COVID-19 Ground Situation, Dials Maharashtra, Himachal & MP CMs

Continuing with his dialogue with Chief Ministers of different states to take stock of the COVID-19 ground situation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with Chief Ministers of 3 states – Maharashtra, Himachal Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.

PM Modi connected with Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jairam Thakur in separate phone calls according to government sources.

Hardest hit by the pandemic since last year, Maharashtra is now among the states which are seeing a plateauing of fresh infections as per union health ministry. Maharashtra logged 54,022 new cases in the last 24 hours and recorded 898 deaths as well due to COVID-19.

Maharashtra CM incidentally wrote to the Centre to develop a separate app for stepping up COVId-19 vaccination following complaints of frequent glitches in CoWIN portal. Maharashtra is among the 10 states which alone account for close to 72 per cent of the new COVID-19 cases reported in a day according to health ministry data.

Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan tweeted post his telecon with PM Modi. He said he updated PM on the state’s “continuously decreasing positivity rate and rapidly rising recovery rate”. He also outlined the measures being adopted by the state to combat the spread of the virus including imposition of ‘Janta Curfew’.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed satisfaction with the efforts of the Madhya Pradesh government and assured all possible help from the central government,” he  tweeted.

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jairam Tahkur too updated PM Modi on measures being adopted by the state to provide oxygen to COVID-19 patients besides giving him a lowdown on hospital beds and vaccination drive. Himachal reported 4,177 COVID-19 cases on Friday, pushing its total case tally to over 1.22 lakh.

PM Modi assured all possible help, Thakur tweeted.

PM Modi has spoken Chief Ministers of 10 states over the last few days along with Lieutenant Governors of two Union Territories.
