FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the viral post and found the claim to be false.

We took keyframes of the three clips in the video compilation and searched them individually and found that all three clips are old.

Video 1

We put the keyframes from the first clip through Reverse Image Search and found the video on YouTube published on July 13, 2017. The title of the video read, ‘shiv sena v/s muslim in phagwara’

We also found the snapshot from the video in a report by The Indian Express dated July 23, 2016. The headline stated that the violence took place in Phagwara, Punjab between Shiv Sena workers and members from a minority community.

As per the report, leaders from both sides carried out protest marches in Phagwara and both the groups came face to face at Naiyan Wala Chowk and passed comments on each other. Tempers ran high and both sides started pelting stones at each other.

Video 2

On putting the second clip through Reverse Image Search, we found the same video on Facebook uploaded on June 6, 2018. The caption of the video suggested that the incident took place in Karoli, Uttar Pradesh.

NewsMobile could not independently verify the origin and location of the video but the above post proves that it is not related to the recent post-poll violence in West Bengal.

Video 3

On putting the keyframes of video through Reverse Image Search, we found a report by The Indian Express dated March 24, 2019, featuring the snapshots of the clip. The headline of the report read: ‘Go to Pakistan’: 20-25 men barge into Gurgaon home, assault family.

The report stated that members of a family in Gurgaon’s Dhamaspur village and guests who had come to visit them were beaten with sticks and rods, allegedly by 20-25 men, who barged into their home and attacked them.

More reports on the incident can be seen here and here.

This proves that all the clips in the video are old and not related to the post-poll violence in West Bengal.
