Himachal Pradesh Govt Issues Travel Guidelines, Makes E-pass Mandatory

Date:

The Himachal Pradesh government has issued a travel advisory for tourists and made the COVID-19 e-pass mandatory. This came a day after a massive traffic jam was observed in the state.

Himachal Pradesh govt on Friday said that no RT- PCR test will be required for entry in the state which led to a huge rush of vehicles to enter into the date.

A rush of more than 2,000 cars led to a huge traffic jam near the borders.

A video went viral on Monday showing thousands of cars and buses waiting to enter the state which is famous for its scenic view.

Many people reacted and took to Twitter saying these will be the people who will blame the government later for the third wave.

Mohit Chawla, superintendent of police, in an interview with ANI news agency told that at least 5000 vehicles entered Shimla from the Shoghi barrier on weekend.

Now, the Himachal Pradesh government has issued a travel advisory and has made e-pass mandatory for visitors to enter the state. Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said that visitors will be monitored through registration on the covid e-pass software.

People will have to enter their details on the online portals and that will be shared with the concerned authorities to keep a check.
