In keeping with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s announcement, the country is now ready to begin the COVID-19 vaccination drive for children aged 15 to 18, from tomorrow. The registrations for the same began on the CoWIN portal yesterday, Saturday.
The Union Health Ministry’s guidelines said that “all those whose birth year is 2007” or before are eligible, and Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin would be the only vaccination for children, in two doses spaced within 28 days.
According to Delhi Health Minister, Satyendar Jain, the national capital has the capacity to vaccinate 3 lakh children of age group 15 to 18 years every day.
While Kerala’s Health Minister, Veena George, said that separate teams had been organized in the state to administer COVID-19 vaccinations to children.
Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Health Minister, appealed to parents to register their eligible children. “If the children are safe, the country’s future is safe,” he tweeted.

Besides vaccinations for children, the Prime Minister said on December 25th that healthcare and frontline employees, as well as citizens over the age of 60, will get “precaution dose” boosters starting from January 10th, 2022.
