NewsMobile fact-checked the post and found the image to be morphed.
We put the picture through Reverse Image Search and found the original image in an article by Financial Express dated January 21, 2022. The headline of the report read, “UP Election 2022: Congress launches youth manifesto, promises 20 lakh jobs, hike in education expenditure.”
The original booklet had the picture of some people along with Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi with the text ‘Bharti Vidhan’ in Hindi.
Not only has the cover page of the booklet been digitally altered but also red bindi has been added to Rahul and Priyanka’s forehead in the morphed photograph which has gone viral.
The launch of the Congress manifesto for upcoming Uttar Pradesh polls was also streamed live on the YouTube channel of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on January 21, 2022.
