More Than 50 Lakh Children Administered With The First Dose Of COVID-19 Vaccine

The Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandviya confirmed that over 50 lakh beneficiaries aged between 12-14 years of age have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

In a tweet, he claimed, “Another feather in the cap of the world’s largest vaccination drive.” The inoculation of children began on March 16 with the Corbevax vaccine. The tweet further added that the government has taken a decision that every person above the age of 60 is now eligible to get a precautionary dose starting from today.

The Corbevax vaccine will be administered to children from the age group of 12 to 14 years old at an interval of 28 days, as notified by the government.

The government also informed that the COVID-19 vaccination drive has crossed the mark of 181.89 crores as per the provisional report. As part of the nationwide vaccination drive, the Central Government is providing vaccines free of cost to the states and union territories.
